Peekabooks is a Canadian children’s bookstore and book-box club, founded by Ella Nader — and when it began, she hadn’t yet turned fifteen.
Meet Ella
From the very first day, the plan was that Ella would be its Founder. Not the face of it, not a name on a poster — the Founder, because the whole thing grew straight out of the way she reads: completely, happily, long past bedtime.
Ask Ella why books — why not an app, a channel, anything easier — and she doesn’t talk about business at all. She talks about what a book does that nothing else can do. She believes books are fundamental to how we develop, and that they’re irreplaceable: nothing else even comes close.
A single second in a book can hold more detail than any camera can capture. That’s how much room a book gives your imagination.
A heritage worth protecting
For Ella, the love of reading isn’t something a lucky few stumble into. It’s a heritage — handed to us by the people who first read to us, and owed to the readers who come after. That is the whole mission, said plainly: pass the love of reading on to the next generation, and protect it on the way.
The love of reading was passed down to me. My job is to pass it on.
The grown-ups in the room
Ella doesn’t run Peekabooks alone — and that’s by design, not apology. Her family, her teachers, and a few other adults she trusts help her navigate the grown-up side of a real business: publishers and suppliers, shipping and returns, the fine print. We’re proud of that arrangement. A young founder with a table full of good advisors is exactly how we think more things should get built.
