Privacy Policy

Peekabooks Inc. ("Peekabooks", "we") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

• Account information — your name and email address when you create an account or join our waitlist.
• Phone number — optional. We ask for it at checkout and in your profile so the delivery courier can reach you if there's a problem with a parcel, and so we can contact you about an order. We don't use it for marketing.
• Order information — shipping address, what you ordered, and the age group you're shopping for.
• Personalisation you choose to give us — a child's first name for box engraving, reading interests — used only to pick better books.
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep only a payment reference and the last digits Stripe reports back to us.

How we use it

To fulfil your orders, choose suitable books, send order and shipping updates, answer your questions, and — only if you opt in — send occasional news and offers. You can turn marketing emails off any time in My Account → Profile, or by using the unsubscribe link in any email.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to run the shop: Stripe (payments), Supabase (our database, hosted in Canada), Vercel (website hosting), Google Workspace (our email), and the shipping carrier that delivers your parcel. Each receives only what their job requires — the carrier, for example, receives the delivery address and, if you provided one, the phone number, so they can complete the delivery.

Children's information

Peekabooks accounts are for adults. We ask for a child's first name and reading interests only if you choose to personalise a box, and we use that information solely to select books and print a gift card. We don't build profiles of children or market to them.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as Canadian tax and business-records law requires (currently six years). Account information is kept until you ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and data. Email info@peekabooks.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. We don't use advertising cookies.
