The language is simple and it’s a nice, soft-sell message about gender expectations and girl power.
Claudia’s Dream inspires female empowerment and encourages young readers not to make assumptions based on initial impressions. The main character’s awareness of gender stereotypes is apparent but does not overshadow the whimsical nature of the story.
I do think that for a simple story book about an elephant meeting interesting creatures in her dreams, adding in this element of gender is a positive opening for conversations and deeper thoughts about our own assumptions and prejudices.
