Black Girl, Black Girl

Angela Bowden is an African Nova Scotian mother, author, poet, advocate, storyteller and child of God from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. A seventh generation descendant of Black Loyalists, she draws from her faith, ancestry, and lived experience to create stories that celebrate Black identity, belonging and possibility. Angela is the author of the poetry collection UnSpoken Truth: unmuted and unfiltered and the celebrated children's book Black Boy, Black Boy. A TEDx speaker and Women and Gender Studies scholar, she uses her voice to reclaim the silenced stories, uplift communities, and remind children of the truth of who they belong to, and the strength, beauty, and resilience they carry. Black Girl, Black Girl is her second children's story, and third book publication.

Ibeabuchi Ananaba (Ibe Ananaba) is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the impact of sociocultural complexities on contemporary living. He enjoys experimenting and practising as a painter, illustrator, muralist, art director, calligraphist, and designer. With local and international awards, Ibe's art has been used as a case study for project theses by various university scholars across Nigeria. Listed in the Smithsonian Institution Libraries Collections, he has had numerous local and international art exhibitions, and his works have been prominently featured in notable international publications. Ibe is a member of the Black Artist Network of Nova Scotia and a Visual Arts Nova Scotia member.
